Whilst our candidates were unsuccessful in being elected as representatives on Durham County Council, we are pleased to report that all 3 Liberal Democrats were successful in being elected onto Spennymoor Town Council.
In the Spennymoor ward Dean Ranyard and Martin Jones came third and fourth in the poll where six candidates were elected. They picked up more votes than any other candidates representing political parties.
Meanwhile, in the Low Spennymoor & Tudhoe Grange ward Beckie Calder took the sixth seat with only seven candidates in the contest. However, this was still a good achievement considering the last time a Lib Dem candidate had contested this ward was back in 2007.
Dean, Martin and Beckie are now looking forward to representing people across Spennymoor on the Town Council and will seek to cooperate with all members of the council for the benefit of the town.
We again would like to thank everyone who supported us and took the time to go out and give us their votes. We do appreciate it.Leave a comment
